Things to Pack before Your Delivery Date

If your delivery date is drawing closer you need to make sure that you have some essentials packed so that when the big day comes you don’t have to worry about packing and fretting over what you forgot once you get to the hospital. Therefore you should make sure that you have a bag packed and ready to go. Here are some of the things that you should be included in your bag when you are finally going in to hospital to have your baby.

Your Clothing

You will need to have enough comfortable clothing to keep you relaxed during your stay in the hospital. If you can also have clothing that is ideal for you to nurse your baby while wearing it that would be an advantage as well. Try and pack maxi dresses maternity wear if you can so that you can be relaxed in the hospital leading up to and after your child birth.

Underwear

You will also need to pack enough underwear for you to take to the hospital. There are special maternity bras that can help you nurse the baby easily. Try and have a few of these to hand even for use in your home after you are discharged from the hospital.

Baby’s Clothing

In addition to the clothing that you take for yourself you should also pack a few items for your baby. These will include something to either keep the baby warm or cold depending upon the climate at the time of your delivery. For example if you are giving birth in the winter you will need baby mittens and socks, a small hat for their ears and something really cosy to keep them swaddled up in. if you are giving birth during the summer you will need to get something made of baby linen or cotton so that the baby will not feel too warm and start crying.

A Nursing Pillow

If you are unsure whether the hospital will provide a nursing pillow for you or not, it is better to take one with you anyway. While feeding the baby the pillow will help you adjust the baby’s feeding position correctly so that the baby will not get colicky afterwards or so that they will not throw up. It will also help you feed the baby easily rather than straining to nurse them in an awkward and uncomfortable position.

Your Toiletries

If you have developed any sensitivities while you were pregnant and have been using specific hypoallergenic toiletries or the likes make sure to pack them too. Even if that is not the case it is something soothing to have products that you have been used to with you unless the doctors have advised you against it. Before you choose any product whether they are topical application items or things that you take in orally, always consult your doctors and get their approval first. These are some of the most important things that you need to pack for you delivery day beforehand.
